January20

Good morning people , at the time I’m writing this post it’s 9.30am and I just came back from a 2 hour morning hike around Gurney Drive and Pulau Tikus. I sweated so much and it felt so damn good I tell ya. I didn’t need an alarm clock to wake me up, I just sprang out of bed, got a change of clothes and pack on my phone, wallet, keys and I-Pod and I was off! V

Too bad I had to leave Lim Ah Meow at home, but I made up for it by taking her down to the garden below my apartment. And she is getting so fat OMG I can’t believe it. She loves playing with sticks and making weird meow noises when she sees birds. But she’s too heavy to be chasing them. And I kinda miss my dogs too, will definitely go on a hike with them once I’m back in Ipoh! Yay for hiking!

Going on a hike this morning was nice actually, the weather was cooling as the sun was camouflaged by the clouds and the breeze was pretty motivating too. And I managed to snap a picture of Gurney Drive, or what’s left of it anyway. Dry as a nun’s gusset. And I had so many cars honking at me as they pass me by while I was brisk walking. What the heck.

However, I feel extremely satisfied knowing that I’ve been waking early for hikes, last weekend was at a padi field in Balik Pulau which is extremely gorgeous by the way (the sight OMG!) and also at the Air Itam dam, which is a nice little forest path to go to for morning hikes. I would go there during weekdays but it’s so freakin’ far and I have classes.

And because I’ve been hiking so much on my Crocs, it’s dying on me! Plus, I assure you (with my feet as proof) that Crocs are not meant for hiking, at least for my Crocs la. I’d get blisters on my soles and I shall save my beloved Malindi for normal walking instead of hiking. My verdict is, for people with Crocs out there, no Crocs for extreme hiking or your shoes dies fast. So for that, I have new hiking shoes. And I’m loving hiking even more now!

I’m looking forward for morning hikes now. I’m not a lazy bum anymore!

I’ve never been health conscious, I love exercises but somehow, I am always too lazy to move. And I love my food, especially living in Penang. HOWEVER, I’ve come to a realization that as I’m getting older, there is a need to take care of myself and that’s how this post came into my mind.

I was quite heavy previously (circa 2006-early 2008), being 5 ft 6 1/2 (actually I’m just bullshitting my height here coz’ I don’t know my actual height but I’m definitely close to it) and 55 kgs, I looked well, pretty chubby or as I call it, swollen. Already I have a round face and being chubby only made it worse! In a way, it made me inferior because I have too much of flesh here and there and it made me think, perhaps I should do something about it. Yea yea girls and their body consciousness, what the heck right? But still, image is important okay, if not why would Hugo fell for me?

Anyhoo I started of with the source to all of this, FOOD. As an Ipoh girl who’s now based in Penang, I sure as hell do love my food. Things like laksa, tomyam, rendang, char koay teow (although I don’t eat it often coz’ it’s just so evil), loh bak, Domino’s, pasembor, pastries, lamb lamb lamb, sushi sushi sushi, pasta and all that food that you can think of, I basically eat everything! I started cutting down my meal portions, eat less junk food, drink more water but still, no exercise from me.

It went on for a few months from mid 2007 till early 2008, and my weight dropped from 55 kgs to 50 kg.s I did some hiking, more walking in shopping malls and I parked further away from college to avoid parking fees and summons, and basically that’s how it happened but still no solid exercise routines from me. My lightest weight ever was 48 kgs, during my chicken pox frenzy last October. Which wasn’t something I enjoyed (duh obviously!) because it left me so many freakin’ memorabilia’s! And working in KL for 3 months last year did had it’s fairshare of cause in my weight drop too. Actually I’ve been 50 kgs for a loooooong time already but I was moving all day long, so it was sort of like an exercise routine in disguise so yea I was more lean and toned BUT once I was back in Penang, my weight is still 50 kgs (thank God) but you can definitely see that I’m looking really “happy” to be back. )

But now with a new year, I am inspired to be healthy.

Which means, I want to include exercise into my life! No I’m not gonna feed those gyms with my moooooney, but I’m thinking frequent hikes, swimming (probably not coz’ the stupid chlorine will spoil my hair),  and activities like badminton maybe? You get the picture la, I wanna sweat it all out of me!

I started yesterday; I had 2 whole grain and wheat biscuits and a fiber drink for breakfast, head to college and had a hotdog bun and another biscuit for lunch, and dinner was noodles with fried egg and onions, with a corn on the cob for a snack.

Today was, again a fiber drink and 2 muesli biscuits for breakfast, steamed fish and rice with garden salad for lunch, and a can drink and 2 sticks of junkfood for teatime, and dinner was a corn on the cob and a half portion of tomato pasta. (I’m saving the other half for tomorrow’s lunch in college )

And I try to include a serving of Yakult or other cultured milk drinks in my diet everyday! But to be frank, I’m allergic to dairy, and chocolate, and colourings and preservatives! So I keep my intake to a minimal.

You might be thinking, I’m eating sorta’ healthily (although there’s junkfood) but where’s the exercise? Well, I had full day classes for both days, so by the time I finished I was so worn out but I took the effort to wash my car yesterday after class. It was almost an hour of hosing, scrubbing, wiping, basically everything you do during a carwash la. And funny thing is, I didn’t sweat at all because the breeze was so cooling! But at least I got my lazy ass to move instead of sending it to the carwash right?

And for extreme sweatouts, I’m thinking weekend hikes would be good! Since I’m busy during weekdays like everyone, weekend is the only time for recreation! Last weekend, Hugo and I decided to hike up from Balik Pulau to the Air Itam dam, by motorcycle! ) Before you go, “Cheh!” all over me, let me tell you that if I were to hike up that windy steep hill road (If I can even call it a road, think: Cameron Highland’s sempit roads) it’ll probably take about 4 to 5 hours. And by motor, it was almost 30 minutes or more! But it was an experience, the breeze on top was so so so so cooling and of course, the view of Penang from the top is inchiban la. Will definitely be going up again, hopefully by foot la!

That about sums up my post here, I am inspired to be healthy! and sorry for the freakin’ essay
