For many years I have seen these funny colourful balls in Guerlain counters and I was wondering, how do you use this? You crush them into powder and store them in a case and puff it onto your face? And with the green, red, gold, white and lilac coloured balls, wouldn’t it turn your face into a clown face? I mean the colours in the pan isn’t exactly the normal colours you would use for normal face powders right.

And that’s when I got it all wrong. I haven’t been a full fledged make-up user for long, it was only a year plus ago that I began accumulating interest in make-up because it was so fun to play with!

I began with the normal essentials like concealer, eye shadows, eyebrow pencils and blush. And it was all student friendly products like The Body Shop, Maybelline and of course, stuffs I took from my mother’s make-up drawer.

It was only recently that I discovered the power of eyeliner, mascara and this Guerlain Meteorites powder! I’ve been reading beauty blogs religiously everyday, more than I read the newspaper sad to say. And it fascinates me that there are so many different products out there catered for different purposes and this Meteorites powder caught my attention so I had to give it a try.

And I never looked back since.

I’m not a big fan of the cardboard packaging because it feels so fragile, like I will dent it anytime with each use. But it’s the things inside that is the bomb. I’ve googled multiple reviews on this product before I made my purchase and I’ve been on the lookout ever since for deals.

I was planning to purchase it in KL since there are no Guerlain counters in Penang, I even scoured for it online and the price was cheaper but it was Momo that offered the best price for this product, although I would prefer the latest metal packaging but I wouldn’t get it at Momo’s price for sure.

This version of the Guerlain Meteorites is a discontinued one and it retailed for about RM170 when it was firstly launched, and in one online shopping site, it retails for about RM156. I was already planning to purchase it from that site but I decided to look through Momo and there it was, only RM119 for the Meteorites! So I promptly placed my order for it along with the ORIKS BB Cream to my sister-in-law.

I put it to the test when I received the package during my stay in Taiwan and it instantly took over my faithful Shimmer Waves from The Body Shop.

Unlike the Shimmer Waves, the Meteorites are not shimmery, yet it’s not very evident when you apply it on but it gives you a glow that doesn’t turn you into a Chinese Opera singer. I have no idea on how to explain it to you but if you have the chance to test it out at Guerlain counters or with friends, do try it and I can assure you that you will not regret it.

The Shimmer Waves was a bargain buy from The Body Shop, I got it for 70% during a sale few months back and I previously used The Shimmer Waves in Rose which was a beautiful light blush for me. And I finished it till the bottom of the pan before I moved on to Peach.

I had to be careful with Peach because if I piled it on it would make me look orange, which is bad unlike Rose which gave me a Rosy glow but it had been discontinued. And you can see from my Peach Shimmer Waves that it has been gently used because of that.

I normally use the Meteorites powder after I apply my BB cream to sort of set it in as well as preventing my face from turning oily from the BB cream and I will apply my blush next along with eye colours or anything else for that matter.

I finish my look with the Meteorites powder again and it’s good to use it to tone down your blush if you accidentally piled on too much.

So yea, the Guerlain Meteorites Powder might be on the expensive side but it’s a powder that will last you for years because you only swipe on so little with your brush. It’s definitely worth buying and I’m beginning to regret for not buying the Guerlain Meteorites Asian Edition in Taiwan that consists of three boxes of Meteorites powder in 3 shades; Mythic, Pink Fresh and Beige Chic. But I’ll make do with my current Meteorites and I’ll try to finish it as fast as I can so that I will have an excuse to purchase a new one or more.

By the way the Asian Edition Meteorites powder retails for 2220TWD which is not very cheap nor incredibly expensive.

♥ Wendy

One of the easiest way to cook chicken is to marinade it and then leave it to the oven to cook it!

You will need; a whole chicken/chicken drumsticks or any part of the chicken (your preference), olive oil, carrot, garlic cloves, halved onions, mixed herbs, salt & pepper. You can add in potatoes if you want but I didn’t have any.

And in this case, I bought 4 chicken drumsticks that I marinated overnight in tons of olive oil, mixed herbs, carrots, onions, garlic cloves. I preheated the oven to 200′C for 10 minutes before popping the chicken in. Right before I put the chicken into the oven, I glossed it with olive oil, sprinkled more salt & pepper and mixed herbs and lay it on a roasting tray. Roast for 40-45 minutes at 200′C. Check your chicken by using a fruit knife to cut into the thickest part of the thigh and if it’s bloody, continue to roast for 5-10 minutes.

Serve immediately, hot! You can serve it with the Quinoa Salad or any other salad you have in mind or just eat the chicken as it is. The roasted carrots tastes really sweet after cooking in the oven. By the way, this recipe is totally a self thought one, I think the ingredients are pretty simple and straightforward, simple way to cook a good chicken dish!

Day 3 in Kaoshiung was all about traveling! We woke up late because we were so exhausted from the day before and we were supposed to catch the HSR to Taichung at 11.30 am but we were late so we caught the 12.10 pm ride instead. While still in Kaoshiung, my sister-in-law took Hugo and I to 7-Eleven to grab a quick breakfast and that’s where I had my usual combo of the sandwich and fruit juice.

Other than that, I bought myself a 7-Eleven iCash card/EasyGo card that can be used for bus rides, MRT rides and 7-Eleven’s. And they have the cutest designs ever for the card that changes frequently, they had Spongebob Squarepants, Shrek 3 characters and this Rilakkuma character from Hello Kitty’s family. No points for guessing which card I bought.

I actually didn’t need to buy the Rilakkuma card because I got a free EasyGo card whereby a friend of mine applied for it online from the Youth Travel Card site and they will deliver it to your doorstep. The card even comes with a free pre-loaded 50TWD, so why not apply for this card before you go to Taiwan.

By the way, the card only applies to those who are of 15-30 years of age.

So I didn’t put my free Youth Travel Card to use because my iCash card can be used as a 7-Eleven prepaid card and also as an EasyGo card. Bear in mind that the Youth Travel Card can’t be used in 7-Eleven’s.

Before we left for Zuoying’s HSR Terminal, we did some shopping at Poya, a drugstore that’s like Watson’s and Guardian and it was like heaven. So much of stuffs to buy there! I bought a Carmex Strawberry LipBalm, tons of leggings and stockings in all sorts of designs, mainly lace. Also, I bought tons of the Donut Scotchtape dispenser that I’m crazy about. Looking forward to shop there again! It sucks to shop in a rush.

My sister-in-law bought us some snacks for our ride to Taichung, this is the famous Taiwanese sausage served with pickled ginger, sliced young cucumbers and glutinous rice sausage. This serving costs RM8 which is not very cheap but it was really good. Very filling so it’s best to be shared among a few.

From Kaoshiung, we are to take the HSR to Taichung which is about 40 minutes ride and from Taichung, we were to take the bus up to Sun Moon Lake which is located in Yuchih, Nantou but the timing wasn’t adequate because we had to wait for 40 minutes for the next bus so we took the taxi up instead, and ending up the taxi ride is cheaper than taking the bus.

And I hadn’t mention this, taxi drivers in Taiwan are really friendly! In fact sometimes too overtly friendly because they are so talkative. But it’s a good thing if you are clueless about Taiwan like me. Plus the cars for taxis are pretty cool, ranging from Toyota Corolla Altis, Toyota Wish, Toyota Camry, Mazda 6 and many more cool cars.

The taxi ride from Taichung to Sun Moon Lake took about an hour and it was a drive uphill. When we reached Sun Moon Lake, the first thing I noticed was how similar it is to Batu Feringghi in Penang, it was like a tourist village, full of hotels, resorts and souvenir shops everywhere.

And the weather was definitely way cooler than my previous days in Taiwan. Thank God for that. We stayed at Apollo Resort Hotel and our view was the lake itself.

By the time we checked in, it was already 2.30 pm and we were in dire need for a shower from all the traveling. We received a blue pass complimentary from the hotel which is worth 299TWD. The blue pass includes a gondola ticket, a one-way boat ticket from Shuishe to Yidashao, a one-day ticket for the round-Sun-Moon Lake bus, a voucher for a free one hour Giant bicycle test ride, and a 20% discount on hiring an electric car. There were also 3 slots for you to accumulate stamps from the places you visit in Sun Moon Lake and when you have 3 stamps, you can redeem a souvenir from the bus terminal in Sun Moon Lake.

We wasted no time after our shower, we took our blue pass out and head out for the helio scooter ride! It’s basically an electrical scooter that carries two people and it costs 150TWD per hour and our voucher in the pass entitles us for a 20% off.

As the weather was getting dark and windy, we headed to two places nearby our homebase which was the Peacock Garden and the Wenwu Temple.

We had a great time riding on the scooter though I didn’t when I had to be the rider.

Kids, don’t try this at home.

By the way, there’s nothing much to see at the Peacock Garden, just a bunch of peacocks running around and annoying kids screaming and running around.

But I saw this bird in capture that reminded me of Bret Michaels, minus the bandana. But sorry, no picture of it because it was about to rain heavily when I wanted to snap a picture.

We continued to the next destination, the Wenwu Temple. Which was also nothing much to see. I’m more of a shopping and eating person, not much of temple and bird park person. It was kinda boring for me.

Blah

We were soaking wet on our ride home because it was raining pretty heavily so we went back to shower and have our complimentary dinner at the hotel which was nothing to sing praise about. I had my 7-Eleven fix after dinner to complete my meal.

We then went for a stroll around the area and it was nice because it was so cooling after the rain. This picture was taken at the area from our room’s view. Our hotel is just behind us. What a view right.

Random picture.

Nightview of Sun Moon Lake. They even have this synchronized fountain which was so cool, I stood there watching it for a good 15 minutes.

We continued to venture further and we stopped by at a souvenir shop which sells the cutest stuffs!

I found this really cute cloth postcard whereby it’s a piece of cloth with a character plastered onto a piece of postcard that you can send it to your friend and you will have to peel the cloth off from the card and cut it up, sew it and finally stuff it with cotton to make it into a figurine like the picture above. I bought a black cat cloth post card and I made it in 2 days.

It costs 40TWD each by the way, and buy 10 free 1.

And that was day 3 in Taiwan, it was an extensive day of traveling and I ended the night with a run to 7-Eleven for hotdogs and junk food to binge on.

I wish 7-Eleven’s in Malaysia could be like Taiwan’s.

♥ Wendy

I am officially a BB cream convert now. In fact, I stumbled upon BB cream by accident. I have heard of a lot of comments and raves about it but it never made me budge, I do read beauty blogs religiously everyday.

My skin has always been a pain to maintain, I had perfect skin for a brief period last year after my chicken pox which miraculously made my skin glow!

And it was mid last year when my dad was diagnosed with cancer that I forgot what was it like to have good skin. I neglected it and it took it’s toll so now I’m left with marks and scars on my face as the result of neglecting my skincare routine. However, it’s been better now since I started picking up myself and give proper attention to myself!

As my skin was healing slow, and I mean really slowly, my usual Artistry SPF 50++ sunblock started becoming too oily for my face, and I was using Dr. Renaud’s Intervention skincare to combat my acne and dehydrated skin. It was healing slowly but my skin would be oily on the outside and dry on the outside, so it’s constantly clogged, causing me a lot of pain! I was so self conscious at that time that I had to pile on the concealer on my marks and constantly blot to prevent my face from becoming a disco ball!

It was after my sister-in-law who was in Malaysia for two months left, that I was cleaning the guest room where I found 2 packets of BB cream samples. It was ORIKS Magic BB cream.

I went online to search for reviews about it but to no avail, none for this brand. However I found tons of review for brands like Misha, Skin79 and so on and the reviews were pretty good so I went to think, this BB cream couldn’t be that bad for me. I tried it on the next day, incorporating it onto my make up replacing the tinted sunblock that I always use and the name magic was totally apt for this bb cream because my face wasn’t oily! Well yea it would get a little oily while I was walking out to lunch with my colleagues but other than that, it wasn’t a big matter at all.

I was sold with this product on the first try, however I’m very particular about sun protection and this product doesn’t have a sun protection factor. So I went home and ask my mum about this BB cream and she told me that my sister-in-law uses it and she could purchase it for me in Taiwan. But if I were to wait for her to bring it over to me, it would take at least 4 months which I couldn’t wait so I began to search for a local seller and I found that ORIKS has an outlet in Sungei Wang, KL. So I sent Hugo to buy two BB creams for me, one Magic BB cream for night/dinner use and one Sun BB cream for everyday use.

It costs RM138 per bottle so these two costed RM276, which is really expensive! But I couldn’t care less because I needed to use it. And this will be my last time buying it in Malaysia because I went on to ask my sister-in-law about the price of this BB cream in Taiwan and I got scolded.

It only costs RM99 for a bottle in Taiwan and they are always sold in sets with other things like cleansers, loose powders and even buy 1 free 1 promotions.

And that was when last month, during my Taiwan trip that I stocked up my BB cream stash by purchasing it from Momo, it’s an online shopping portal in Taiwan and they even have their very own shopping channel!

I bought two sets of each BB cream; the Magic BB cream had a buy 1 free 1 promotion and they even threw in a free cleanser and a special makeup palette (which I gave it away to Hugo’s mum) for me. I also bought the Sun BB cream which is also buy 1 free 1 and it comes with a free mascara, a rose scented loose powder, a free cleanser! And for both sets, it costs less than RM300! And to think that I bought only two bottles of BB cream in KL for RM276.

I even bought my very much craved for Guerlain Meteorites in Mythic for only RM119! I was actually planning to buy it in the airport but the price on Momo was way cheaper. I couldn’t pass out on that offer. Will review about that in future.

Back to the BB cream, I use both Magic and Sun everyday and I like to blend them together because the Magic BB cream is perfect for my skin, it’s not thick and it gives an even coverage on my fair skin (it does not make me look orange!) but it’s missing the SPF hence that’s where the Sun BB cream comes in. After my toner and moisturiser, I’ll apply the Magic BB cream to the entire face and then blend in a small dot of the Sun BB cream and finish it with concealer and dust of my Meteorites powder.

Normal day look: Magic & Sun BB cream (blended), Rimmel Ivory Concealer, Guerlain Meteorites Mythic Powder, Carmex Strawberry Lip Balm, Estee Lauder Black Brow Pencil, Artistry Medium Brown Brow Pencil, Majolica Majorca Black Perfect Automatic Liner and H&M blush in Sunny Apricot.

I’m looking forward to my next Taiwan trip because I didn’t have time to scour all the beauty products that are available in Taiwan. I only managed to ransack Watson’s and I only stocked up on my Majolica Majorca items.

So if you want to purchase BB creams or any cosmetic items for that matter, do go to Taiwan and stock up because the choices there supersedes Malaysia’s.

Day 2 in Taiwan began a little late, partially because we were so tired from traveling the day before and partially because my brother and sister-in-law aren’t exactly morning people. We woke up, showered and fed Stella her milk before we head out for our brunch.

And the weather was so HOT! Seriously for you people who are planning to go to Taiwan during summer, make sure you bring an umbrella or buy an umbrella! You will definitely need it because the sun sears your skin!

In a matter of a minute, whereby I was carrying Stella down from 6th floor in the elevator to the car, I was already sweating buckets. It was really really that hot.

We headed to somewhere nearby our place, it was a fast brunch for us as we are about the have a long drive to Kenting National Park. We were at Paddy Aurae, a Taiwanese version of fast-food, was supposed to head to Dolik for breakfast but we were rush for time. Anyhow, I ordered a bowl of pork meat plus floss and pickled vegetables served with rice and a bowl of white fish meat soup that costs 60TWD for both! Seriously it’s a cheap meal, there’s fish!

It was nice, will definitely have it again when I have the chance.

One thing about Taiwan architecture, the buildings are mostly tiled. Like 98% out of the buildings are tiled, as opposed to Malaysian buildings whereby it’s all just painted.

After our quickie brunch, we headed down to Kenting National Park and on the way there, we detoured to Pingtung and my brother decided to randomly drive around since he’s never been in that area before. We didn’t know where we were so we scoured to using Googlemap’s to help our navigation.

We then randomly stumbled upon a railway track and fortunately, the gate was closed as a train is about to pass by. So Hugo and I rushed down and took some photos of the train. It’s been ages since I experienced waiting for a train to pass by, since my younger days in Menglembu.

We continued on our way and soon reached Donggang, famous for its sea produce. In fact, while we were there we saw an array of fishes from bluefin tuna, sharks and I have no idea what other fish there was, it all looks like fish to me.

We then moved further down the pier and saw a huge crowd, there was a fish auction going on! It was very exciting seeing a bunch of men pointing here and there, giving all sorts of gestures and the auctioneer then pastes a piece of paper on the fish and a lady would hook the fish and bring it aside for delivery.

After seeing all the raw fish around, it was time to taste the real thing and we drove to somewhere nearby for our lunch. My sister-in-law recommended us to try out the sashimi; especially the tuna and whale meat. And seriously the tuna is nothing like I had before! It was like.. magical.

One thing about eating with my brother is, he loves food and he spends most of his money on food. Hence we’re up for some good food today and in Taiwan, there’s a lot of fresh seafood available.

We were here for lunch, and it was good.

While we were waiting for our food to arrive, I began a mobile upload diarrhea on my facebook album.

This cheeky little girl was waiting for her food to come too! She almost gave me a heart attack during lunch, she would fold her legs while sitting in her chair and stand up while everyone was busy digging into their food.

We ordered an array of food, this is fried rice noodle with pumpkin. I couldn’t really taste exactly what was in the dish but it was very sweet and fragrant. Although pumpkin isn’t one of my favourite, it tasted good.

After seeing the tuna by the pier, it was time to have some! This is black pepper tuna with onions, teppanyaki style!

This is fresh prawns, that was blanched. The prawns were unseasoned and supposed to be dipped in soy sauce to taste it’s sweetness.

The Holy Dish of all, Sashimi! The salmon and tuna was so so good!

This was something new for me. I didn’t know Fernleaf could be eaten and yea this is Fernleaf. It’s fried with “wuo zi”, some sourish fruit like some assam-ish kinda fruit. I love the fernleaf, it’s really crunchy and it has this slight sliminess to it which was very unique.

Next up, seafood pancake. It had this tempura batter outer layer that sandwiched lettuce, fish meat and prawn. Not oily at all and superbly crunchy, very nice!

I love soups and this soup was the bomb! This is a pot of crayfish stew that was just sweet, fragrant and very very tasty. Even Stella loves it, I gave her a sip and she started making noise for more.

For dessert, we were served with fried sweet potato in malt coating and fresh guava cuts. It was a very different experience in eating the sweet potato because it was malt coated for a reason. The waitress gave us a bowl of ice water and told us to dip the potato into the water before eating it.

The reason for being is, once you dip the potato in the ice water, the coldness from the water would freeze the malt and so when you bite the potato, it’s crunchy! Like eating Crème brûlée where the coating is made from hard sugar. Definitely a good treat.

And the guava was very sweet and most importantly, not tough! Unlike the guavas I had in Malaysia, this was superbly sweet and soft. Perfect for summer.

Next up, we finally headed to the original intended destination. Kenting White Sand Bay was beautiful but it was too hot for us to frolick around the beach. I’d seriously die without an umbrella there because it was so hot! Malaysia’s weather is nothing compared to the summer in Taiwan.

The water was so clear, and the beach sand was so fine and beautiful, it was even more beautiful than Redang.

And Stella had her first experience in the sea, she loved it so much. She wasn’t afraid of the waves crashing on her and she seemed to enjoy “drinking” sea water. Too bad we didn’t pack her bikini for her if not she could’ve stayed longer in the water.

We stayed at the beach for about 20 minutes because it was too hot and I was practically burning in the sun! We then headed to the famous cape area, whereby the famous movie Cape No. 7 was filmed. And yes it was so hot there and to be so near to the sea, there wasn’t much wind at all!

The view was spectacular, it looked like a still photograph! But the weather was so torturous.

We took a few photos, taking advantage of the beautiful sky that day.

We were waiting for Hugo to set up the camera for a group photo with his Gorillapod, and seriously to use a DSLR with a tripod like that can give someone a heart attack when the body is so heavy. Wouldn’t want to imagine if suddenly one of the tripod leg goes wobbly and the camera goes “ping pong piang” on the rocks.

Everyone had a great time posing as we were using a wireless remote control but Stella was probably thinking wtf are this people laughing, screaming and giggling about plus everyone’s moving around doing silly things.

We then drove further down and arrive at this place, that I have no idea where it is. I think I heard my sister-in-law explaining to me but I kinda zoned out because I was so reluctant to leave the car, it was too hot!

And to go into this place, we had to jump over the weird looking rocks and make sure we don’t fall because the holes in between the rocks are really deep.

We quickly took a few photos before we left and although the weather was superbly hot, the sky was beautiful. I was told by my mum that the weather appears so blue because it flowed from a nuclear plant hence changing the water.

All this running around taking photos and burning under the sun really made everyone thirsty and we quickly drove to the nearest 7-Eleven to get refreshments. And coincidentally, the 7-Eleven that we stopped at was opposite the famous Sail Rock.

Well, the reason it was called the Sail Rock is because the shape of the rock looks like a ship set on sail. Kinda no brainer isn’t it. Anyhow, the weather wasn’t getting any cooler by the day, I was having migraines from the heat by the time this photo was taken.

We then drove for quite some time to this place, for paos! And we had to queue for them. We were given numbers and told to sit and wait for our number to be displayed on the screen.

Thankfully next door was a drink shop so we bought more cool drinks.

The flavours available for the pao were very unique, there was the normal pork pao, mushroom and egg with pork pao and the not so normal ones like bacon pao, curry pork pao, spicy lion head (meat ball) pao. And the shop will play a song that indicates fresh paos are out from the steamers! A very unique experience.

We waited for about 30 minutes till our turn and by that time, bacon was just freshly sold out. ;cry

Since there were so many types of pao available, it’d be hard to distinguish the flavour you chose so with every purchase you will be given their name card and at the back is an indicator of the paos. Each pao is labeled with several dots with different colours so this is your pao manual.

It was a long drive home for us after buying the paos, it took about an hour plus and by the time we reached home it was already 8.30pm. We were wilted!

But considering the fact that we don’t come to Taiwan everyday, everyone agreed to head out to the famous LiuHe Night Market for dinner/supper. I was ready at 9.30pm but it wasn’t until 10.45pm that we leave. And I wasn’t very hungry either, was too tired to be downing anything.

LiuHe Night Market is currently Taiwan’s #1 night market, beating out Shihlin! And it’s opened daily and my brother told me that during peak seasons, the night market would stay open until 5am! And before we head to LiuHe Night Market, we stopped by the famous Formosa Boulevard MRT Station.

It is just a stone’s throw away from the LiuHe Night Market and it’s a beautiful MRT station with modern architectural designs and a famous spot for wedding pictures. the station is known for its “Dome of Light”, the largest glass work in the world. It was designed by Italian artist Narcissus Quagliata. It is 30 meters in diameters and covers an area of 2,180 square meters. It is made up of 4,500 glass panels. Including my brother and my sister-in-law.

This was taken about two years back, at the Formosa Boulevard MRT station. See the dome of light?

And this is about 2 years later, with a little addition.

Beautiful isn’t it? I meant the dome.

And this is at the top floor of the station, you have to take a long escalator ride down to reach the dome.

Look at the cool design!

And we were on our way up to the LiuHe night market.

As we were there on a Monday night, there weren’t many people around so it was nice to walk around. Plus the food array was nothing less. It’s like your typical pasar malam just that this one was very clean, less crowded and people were following traffic rules and there were many rubbish bins provided so it was very tidy.

We went to New Zealand Steakhouse for supper, and I was told by my sister-in-law that this shop has been in existence for more than 10 years. It was already 11.30pm when we had our supper and I felt like dying from the heat I was under the entire day. So having steak at night was sort of a bad idea.

And Stella seemed to enjoy herself very much although it was way past her bed time.

I shared steak and fish with Hugo and it comes with a bowl of beef stew and salad. The beef stew was god sent, it was so good and comforting for my tummy after being heaty the entire day.

I want to have a bowl of the soup again, next year!

We had this, beef and fish. Not bad! Will go for it again on my next trip.

We ended the night with the mother of all tofu’s. Stinky Tofu!

Stinky tofu is one of the most recognizable dishes in Taiwan. It is very commonly served on roadside stands and in night markets. It is usually served deep fried (often served drizzled with sauce and topped with sour pickled vegetables).

And to top it off, we had the Szechuan Malat soup version! It’s already stinky, plus it’s with soup. Surprisingly, it wasn’t stinky as it smells, but it’s definitely my cup of tea. It was a squirmish experience with this dish but I’ll pass. Though the soup was really nice though, I’m a big fan of soups.

With a stinky end, we went home and I went unconscious immediately after I finished brushing my teeth and changing into my pajamas. And the sorethroat fairy decided to visit me that night.

The next day was going to be a long day too, we are to head up hill!

I have had black hair all my life. I never dyed, permed nor had any crazy stuff done to my precious locks other than getting a temporary perm for a photoshoot 2 years ago.

this was taken in 2006, my first semester in my diploma days

I’ve had short hair for the past few years, because I kept cutting it and maintaining at a bob’s length, it was only 2 years back that I began letting my hair grow and trimming it twice a year. And now my hair is chest length and I plan to let it grow longer.

So yea, currently my hair is really long and I’ve been religiously using Clairol Herbal Essence’s Smooth Weighty Shampoo and Conditioner together with Liese’s Juicy Shower, Designing Jelly and Hair Cocktail to maintain my long locks. Yes, having long hair means a lot of maintenance because if you have long hair that looks bad, it really looks bad. disheveled is not a look that I like. I like my hair neat, clean and healthy!

I have been tempting to do something drastic with my hair for quite some time, I was thinking getting a perm or dye or both. But I think, better start slow for now. So again I went back to Liese’s products and I purchased the Bubble Hair Colour in Chestnut Brown.

As a greenhorn in hair dyeing, it wasn’t that hard to use!

It was just disassemble the box, mix this with that, wear gloves, tilt the bottle to mix, foam your hair up with the mix and wait for 30 minutes to rinse!

So I basically just explain the entire process in less than 30 words. It is that easy. The box comes with a pair of rubber gloves to prevent staining your hands, 2 bottles of dye mixture to be mixed right before you dye, a pump to dispense the dye and an after dye conditioner/nourisher. Don’t worry if you don’t understand my brief explanation, the box is loaded and equiped with ample of reminders and instructions so it won’t be difficult to use.

One thing I find bad about this product is the smell! The ammonia smell was so bad it irritated my nose and eyes so badly throughout the lathering process. But the foam was thick enough so the plus point is no dye dripping down my face! I might be more adventurous next time and go for a lighter colour.

So after dyeing the hair, the colour isn’t that obvious. But it definitely showed up the next day, but it wasn’t an obvious you-dyed-your-hair kinda obvious. In fact it looked natural on me, it matches my brown eyes.

Although this is my first time colouring my hair, I don’t see it as my last. One thing I had to adjust was my eyebrow colour. I don’t have very thick complete eyebrows, so I had to fill them in with a black eyebrow pencil and blend it in with my existing eyebrow hair but now, I had to use a brown eyebrow pencil paired with the black eyebrow pencil because if I were to use brown alone, it would look too fake because my hair isn’t that of a bright brown. So I had to constantly blend the two eyebrow colours together to match my hair. Which for now isn’t much of a hassle, yet.

Looking forward to try a new colour in time to come!

I was craving for some soup and I ransacked my kitchen to only find a few measly items available. Luckily I still have my bacon leftovers from my salad and breakfast meal so I figured why not use it? So with the onions that I have in my kitchen, I decided to make a simple Bacon Onion soup for dinner and the soup alone isn’t very filling so I made some super easy Cheese toasts along.

You will need; bacon (depending on the amount you like), Yellow big onions ( 2-3 depending on preference), butter or olive oil (I used olive oil because it’s healthier ), chicken stock (I used the cubes – 1 is enough mixed with water), salt & pepper for seasoning. For the cheese toasts, just place a slice of cheese between two slices of bread and put in the sandwich maker for about 3 minutes.

Firstly, I heated up the olive oil and fried the bacon (shredded into bits) until it’s fragrant, adding in the onion and fry until it becomes transparent and softened. Once the onion is clear, add in the chicken stock and boil for 30 minutes. Season with salt & pepper, serve with Cheese toasts.

Now isn’t this a quick comforting meal.

This particular recipe intrigued me while I was watching Michael Smith on Chef At Home I like it’s simplicity and how earthy it tasted! Plus quinoa is really healthy!

You will need; one (Japanese) cucumber – taste better and crunchier!, one grated carrot, one slice of ham shredded, one lemon – juiced and zested, quinoa – boiled with double parts of water, adequate amount of olive oil, salt & pepper to taste. (I personally like a lot of pepper because it make the dish smell so great!)

It’s really easy to make; boil 1 cup quinoa with 2 cups of water like how you’d boil rice then once it’s done just mix it with chopped tomatoes, zucchinis, carrot, corn kernels, onions and splash a generous amount of olive oil and for the final touches just grate some lemon zest and juice from half a lemon with salt and pepper to taste.

Serves two or three. It tastes so so so good

I’m currently in the state of pondering of my future. And one of the most prominent item I think that’s important is my home. The home where I’ll settle down, build a foundation and a family empire. For me, the most important part of the house has definitely got to be my kitchen! I look forward to have my very own kitchen, fully equipped and happily churning out magic everyday. One of the many things that I’ve been infatuated with is this. It’s a mixer.

I’m dying to have one! I’ve been lusting it everytime I see it in Parkson, or on television. Isn’t the Kitchen Aid Mixer beautiful? It’s just a perfect addition to anyone’s kitchen. However, the price tag is another different story. As a beauty it may be, the RM2.5k price tag leaves it much to be desired than owned. I understand, forking out twenty hundred dollars for a mixer is insane but for me it’s way worth it, hence I’m putting it into my wishlist and a must get item when I’m settling down in life.

What’s a home with a kitchen? I foresee myself having a spacious kitchen, with granite tops and ample of space for me to chop, stir, mix, play, and work it for a nice meal!

This will be a long-term but not immediate fulfillment. I’m not much of a brand person but there’s something about Chanel that captures my attention. I like it’s vintage-modern touch to fashion that is very much what I go for. I like vintage pieces that are timeless.

This is one of my lifelong musts in life. I vow to travel to this place and seep it’s culture! There’s just something about Italy that gives me goosebumps.

Of course there are many more things I aim for in life but here are just some of the major ones.

My Colourful Stir Fry Udon with Pork Ham & Bonito Flakes

You will need; a few cloves of garlic (2-3), 1 or 2 slices of ham (depending on your preference for meat), one handful of bonito flakes, half for adding in and half for garnish, one cucumber diced or sliced, one grated carrot, one or two diced tomatoes, half tablespoon of Kikkoman, adequate sesame oil, salt & pepper for seasoning.

I fried the garlic and onion with the ham until it’s fragrant before adding in the traffic light veges (Japanese cucumber, carrot & tomato) and the Bonito flakes, I also used Kikkoman soy sauce and sesame oil for seasoning before adding in cracked pepper and salt. And the last step is to add in the udon noodle and fry it until its translucent and serve, garnished with Bonito flakes

One of my favourite comfort food easy and tasty! Enjoy!
